An SME conclave has been organized by Birla Institute of Management Technology (BIMTECH) on Feb 19th 2011 at the PHD chamber of commerce, New Delhi. The conclave is meant to help SMEs make a position for themselves in the galleries of MNEs (Multi-National Enterprises).

Mr. Virbhadra Singh, Minister for SME, attended the function as chief guest and urged corporate sector to shake hands with government so as to enhance growth prospects. Dr HP Kumar, Chairman & Managing Director, NSIC (National Small Industries Corporation) who also addressed the session said there is the need to be cost effective and have good access to information so as to be in a position to take right decisions.

The theme of the session has been “Exports as a growth strategy- Governmental infrastructure and institutional framework for export generation.” Guest lecturer Mr. Sahai, director general of FIEO, said that the government should intervene to protect the interest of Indian exporters seeing the current volatility in foreign exchange market. Mr. Alejandro Palaez present in the conclave said that aspiring SMEs can become MNEs and can contribute to Nation by focusing on import substitution rather than just concentrating on exports. During the session, monetary issues and financial solutions concerning SMEs have also been discussed upon.
