Large corporate are lending a helping hand to micro and small enterprises (MSEs) to keep pace with changing times. This is especially meant to help MSEs become cost efficient by introduction of innovative measures.
Logistics Company DHL has organized a “CEO mentoring clinic” in Chandigarh last month. This program has focused on providing insights for SMEs on cost reduction and time management. Chandigarh itself has 2,500 units that are registered as small-scale units. DHL officials have said that the programmed is conceived to equip MSEs with knowledge so as to help them take a big leap forward.
The clinic will be organized in series in 12 -15 cities in India. Here, DHL shall participate as logistics mentor and use these events as platform for addressing logistics needs of MSEs. J R Singhal, former chairman, CII (Punjab region), has the opinion that MSEs have a symbiotic relationship with large corporate houses. This relationship offers corporate houses an opportunity to outsource requirements. To meet this requirement of large corporate, MSEs get the chance to modernize.
Another example of a large corporate house that offers expertise to MSEs is ‘CII-Avantha Centre for Competitiveness’. This centre is established by Avantha Group in Chandigarh for supporting MSEs. The centre provides consultancy services to 54 companies in Ludhiana (Punjab). It covers areas like quality management, human resource management, cost management and energy management. This centre has completed consultancy exercises with 64 clusters that have impact on 524 companies across various sectors of India.
